My Capstone Idea
My idea is to work with Michael Noir to promote and market his film. I hope to get him going on all aspects of social media along with a nice website to promote his characters and show off clips of his film along with email marketing to maybe put his film out there to AMC and who knows where else we can go. I hope to get him out on all aspects of social media from they typical Facebook, twitter, instagram, and pinterest. I believe if we hash tag his characters right we can build an audience on pinterest for him.
Three things that inspire my ideas are the free lance work i did this summer with going out and looking through klout to find the top influencers for the topic you are trying to market. Also using PeopleBrowser once his twitter account gets establish to look at his people out reach and which audience he is getting to the most so we can make sure its a balance to men and women. Finally Hash tags on all the social networks that use them. These are crucial to any persons success when promoting something.

ReplyDeleteI agree that hashtags are very important for twitter, facebook, etc. I also think that Mr. Noir would love to have someone there to help him keep organized and be his right hand man. He's the type of man who needs someone there- even if it's to get him a red bull. :) Just kidding- but in all honesty I think that would be amazing to do to help him with his/your capstone. Good Luck!

ReplyDeleteI think social networking is the cutting edge of a lot of new media productions, so in that I think you are making a good call. I am curious what your back up plan is if Mike's vision changes and he only works on a sfx reel? I wish I had as much direction at this point as you and Micheal. good luck
ReplyDeleteI actually Do have some back up plans.. I will go to a non profit organization and promote their company through social media. I am really involved in the school so i have a few ideas of which organizations to help!!

DeleteI like how you and Michael are combining forces to make a capstone from two different backgrounds. I can't wait to see the promotional stuff that you make.

ReplyDeletestephanie guenin - this is an awesome idea, because if michael's film makes it big, it means the promoting will be almost most the reason why! that is if you do a good job ;] i want to work with advertisement which i feel goes hand in hand with promotion... and i'm a huge lover of instagram, pinterest, ect. so i totally think you're going down the right road!
ReplyDeleteI know a lot about what I'm doing.. I was working with a marketing company this summer along with a lot of freelance work.. I don't see social media as a pleasure thing any more I look at it as numbers!!! I'm thinking I have it figured out so fingers crossed I do!! ;)
DeleteThat came across mean I'm sorry not meant to at all!!! :) sarcasm turns bad!!!

ReplyDeleteOver the summer I did a Soc-Media internship just for laughs (and $), and actually ended up really enjoying it! It's definitely something I'd be interested in doing as a 9-5 to support my more artistic endeavors--I'll have to get some tips from you sometime during class.

ReplyDeleteIt sounds as though you have found a medium you enjoy working in. That's fantastic. Teaming with another student that has a strong vision is smart. That helps you to really focus on your strategies and execution.

ReplyDeleteI love that you guys have this going on. I wish it was something I would have tried to do right for my capstone. I put up an indiegogo campaign but it did not go very well. Partly I think it is because indiegogo is set up so that you can specify whether you want any money that is donated to you to be given to you whether or not the goal is met. So in my opinion I would go with kickstarter if you are planning to do crowdfunding.

ReplyDeleteSo what makes a marketing campaign a big enough project for a capstone, and how do you capture this to present it?
ReplyDeleteI swear you pick on me so much!!!! It is a huge project my friend Jessica did the exact same capstone late year and had four employers come directly to her because no one is doing social media marketing.. Its all about the numbers... You figure out the AGE group and the Demographics you want to reach... Then you make a game plan.. How to promote when posting get the most views how to out reach the most people.. Its honestly not as easy as you think it is!!!! It will be a huge project considering if i work with michael we will want to get out reach farther then Indiana. Idk how to explain it im working on that for my proposal and she is helping me as well.....

ReplyDeleteI really support your capstone idea. I think it's great that you both can work together to benefit each other. I'd like to talk to you about your specific plans for your capstone because I'm headed in the same direction!
